Women Empowerment

About This Workshop

Women Empowerment and Livelihoods

We believe that empowered women are the driving force behind resilient families and prosperous communities. Our programmes enable women to become confident leaders, informed decision-makers, and economically independent through leadership development, livelihood promotion, skill building, financial inclusion, and access to government entitlements.

To strengthen women’s economic empowerment, we have facilitated the formation of 384 Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs), creating platforms for savings, credit, and collective action. Of these, 120 SHGs have successfully accessed bank loans, enabling women to invest in sustainable livelihood opportunities. Around 170 women have established micro-enterprises, including pulse sorting, chilli powder production, and small-scale poultry farming, generating stable incomes and enhancing household economic security.

These livelihood initiatives have significantly reduced distress migration among women and their families. By creating sustainable income opportunities within their own villages, women are able to remain with their children, reducing the risks of exploitation, interrupted education, and child labour, while ensuring a safer and more secure environment for their families.

Beyond livelihoods, we work closely with women’s groups, community institutions, and local governments to promote gender equality, strengthen women’s leadership, and prevent violence against women and girls. Our integrated approach empowers women to become agents of change, creating stronger families, more resilient communities, and a future where every woman can live with dignity, confidence, and opportunity.

Community Awareness & Participation

Community participation plays an important role in creating sustainable social change. Workshops provide a space where people can come together, listen, discuss and learn about issues that affect individuals, families and communities.

Through direct interaction and awareness activities, participants can gain greater understanding and become more engaged with important social issues. Such initiatives also encourage communication and collective thinking, helping create a stronger connection between community members and development-oriented organisations.

The workshop conducted under the Maharashtra State Commission for Women reflects this approach of bringing people together through an organised platform for awareness and engagement. It also highlights the importance of creating opportunities for discussion and learning at the grassroots level.
